Indonesia Pest Academy 2025 will be officially inaugurated by His Majesty Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. As the 10th Sultan of Yogyakarta, His Majesty has been a key figure in preserving the region’s cultural heritage and traditional values, while also driving modern development. Under his leadership, the Special Region of Yogyakarta has seen significant progress in education, tourism, and sustainable development.
Note: We are currently awaiting confirmation of His Majesty’s participation in the official inauguration.

Prof. Chow Yang Lee
Prof. Chow Yang Lee
Chow-Yang Lee is the Professor and Endowed Presidential Chair in Urban Entomology at the University of California, Riverside, USA. He is internationally known for his research on behavioral, ecological, and physiological adaptations of insect pests in the urban environment. He has published more than 290 peer-reviewed papers and books and mentored 17 Ph.D. and 32 M.S students. Prof. Chow-Yang received many awards at international and national levels, including the Fellow of the Entomological Society of America (2024), Recognition Award in Medical, Urban and Veterinary Entomology (2022) from the Entomological Society of America, Arnold Mallis Distinguished Achievement Award in Urban Entomology (2022) from the National Conference on Urban Entomology (USA). He co-edited three textbooks on urban insect pests, namely Advances in the Biology and Management of Modern Bed Bugs (2018), Biology and Management of the German Cockroach (2021), and Biology and Management of the Formosan Subterranean Termite and Related Species (2023).

Ujjwal Kumar is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in Grain Protection, Pest Management, Fumigation, and Food Safety. He currently serves as CEO & Global Project Manager at E&G Pathway India. An Honorary Member of the Asian Pest Management Association (APMA) and a Member of the Entomological Society of India, Mr. Kumar is dedicated to reducing post-harvest handling losses to ensure food security and sustainability. His extensive career includes senior roles such as Assistant Vice President – Commodity Care & Pest Management Department at National Bulk Handling Corporation Ltd, where he managed pest management services across North and East India, overseeing a team of regional managers and leading business development and corporate account management. With his deep expertise, Mr. Kumar has made significant contributions to improving pest control and food safety practices across Asia.

Partho Dhang earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Madras in Chennai, India. In 1998, he left India to work with several companies on short-term assignments, focusing on urban entomology, before establishing his own consultancy in Manila. With his extensive experience in the pest control industry, he has edited and authored five books published by CABI. Dr. Dhang is also a prominent speaker at international conferences and has published numerous research papers in leading international journals.

Prof. dr. Adi Utarini, M.Sc., MPH
Adi Utarini is a distinguished public health expert and professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. She is widely recognized for her pioneering work in the fight against dengue fever, particularly through the innovative use of Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes for vector control. Prof. Utarini led the world’s first randomized controlled trial of this approach, which has shown promising results in reducing dengue transmission. With extensive experience in epidemiology and vector-borne diseases, she has contributed significantly to public health research and policy. Her work has earned her national and international recognition, establishing her as a leading figure in global health and disease prevention.

Prof. Dr. Drs. Sudarmaji, MP.
Prof. Dr. Drs. Sudarmaji, MP.
Sudarmaji is a Senior Researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) of Indonesia, specializing in rodent ecology and management. He has published over 150 scientific papers in both Indonesian and English and has mentored over 30 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. Prof. Sudarmaji has actively participated in more than 75 national and international scientific events and has been responsible for 11 international research projects with partners from various countries. He has received numerous accolades, including the CSIRO Awards Partnership Excellence from the Australian Government (2002), and the Satyalancana Karya Satya for 10, 20, and 30 years of service from the President of Indonesia (2004, 2009, 2019), as well as the Peneliti Madya Berprestasi award from the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture (2011).

Khoirul Himmi Setiawan, who earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees from Kyoto University, Japan, was awarded the HOPE Fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) in 2016. Since 2017, Dr. Himmi has been actively contributing as a Project Leader in the Japan-ASEAN Science Technology Innovation Platform (Working Package 3: Biodiversity and Bioresources), an international research initiative supported by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). His research focuses on the bioecology, behavioral responses, physiology, and management of termites and wood-deteriorating organisms. Currently, Himmi serves as the Secretary-General of the Pacific-Rim Termite Research Group (PRTRG) for the 2020-2024 term.

Triwibowo Ambar Garjito is a researcher in the field of vector-borne diseases at the Research Center for Vector and Disease Reservoirs (B2P2VRP), National Institute of Health Research and Development, Ministry of Health, Indonesia. He earned his Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in 2000, his Master of Public Health (M.Kes.) in Tropical Medicine from UGM in 2007, and completed his Ph.D. at the Doctoral School of Chemical and Biological Health Sciences, University of Montpellier, France, in 2020. Dr. Triwibowo’s research has focused on malaria and dengue fever, beginning his career in 2001 as a field coordinator for the Malaria Control Evaluation Project in West Lombok, NTB, and later working as a researcher at the Vector and Disease Reservoir Control Unit in Donggala, Central Sulawesi, since 2002. His work includes longitudinal malaria vector surveys, epidemiological studies on filariasis, and malaria outbreak assessments, contributing significantly to the understanding of disease transmission dynamics and vector control in Indonesia.

Intan Ahmad is a Professor of Entomology at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia, specializing in Aedes aegypti, the dengue vector, with a focus on vector surveillance systems and insect sterile techniques. He has made significant contributions to the field through his roles on Indonesia’s Pesticide Commission and the Expert Committee for Vector Control at the Ministry of Health, and is currently a member of the task force combating arboviruses. Prof. Ahmad also previously served as Director General of Learning and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, and as acting rector of Jakarta State University. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Ph.D. in Entomology, he has authored over 60 academic publications.

Dodi Nandika is a distinguished professor in the Division of Wood Quality Enhancement Technology at the Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Institut Pertanian Bogor, a Master’s degree from the University of Goettingen, Germany, and a Doctoral degree from Institut Pertanian Bogor. Specializing in entomology and wood preservation, Nandika’s research focuses on termite control, wood durability, and sustainable wood treatment technologies. His studies include the resistance of bamboo and palm fronds to fungi, drywood termites, and subterranean termites, as well as termite hazard mapping and strategies for managing infestations in industrial plantation forests. Prof. Nandika has also explored the use of Gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) catechins as wood preservatives and investigated the potential of Gewang (Corypha utan Lamk.) trunks for laminated wood products. His contributions have established him as a key figure in advancing sustainable wood preservation and pest management.

I Wayan Darmawan is a distinguished professor in the Division of Wood Quality Enhancement Technology at the Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia. His research focuses on wood quality enhancement and sustainable wood treatment technologies, including natural weathering, nano-impregnation, and eco-friendly coatings for tropical fast-growing woods. Prof. Darmawan has also investigated veneer quality and the impact of various treatments on wood product strength, contributing significantly to the advancement of wood preservation techniques for creative industries and environmental sustainability. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Institut Pertanian Bogor, a Master’s degree from the University of Goettingen, Germany, and a Doctorate from Shimane University, Japan.
